Parking on University Avenue under LRT
The current plans for the new Light Rail Transit (LRT) line on University Avenue are calling for the elimination of most of the street parking on University Avenue, nearly 1000 spaces in all will be removed. There was a public meeting on Monday, July 28 to learn more and talk about next steps.The Greater Frogtown Board of Directors has released a summary of that meeting, and a resolution calling for specific action steps (148 KB .pdf file). Additional infromation about this issue includes:

• U-Plan has created maps of University Avenue and highlighted where street parking will remain under the new designs. Visit U-Plan for their .pdf format drawings of the area.
• You can read a presentation (1.5 MB .pdf document) from the Metropolitan Council, and a brief about their most recent traffic study (68K .pdf document).
• The Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS - 1.5MB .pdf file) is also now available for comment - and comments must be received by August 25. This is a much broader document than just parking, however, those issues may be raised in comments about the impact statement.
