Vacant home rehabilitation. Because getting homes repaired for new residents is a key element to a healthy community. Greater Frogtown CDC uses funds provided by government and nonprofit resources to repair and then sells the home to low to middle income families.
New home construction. Building a new home on a key vacant lot can help tie a neighborhood back together. With the support of key partners, Greater Frogtown CDC has been able to build over forty new homes in our community.
Assistance buying your new home. While Greater Frogtown does not provide purchase-mortgages directly, we do work with other government and nonprofit groups to help you find the right solution to buying your home in one of our neighborhoods. Click here for minimum qualifications.
Housing education classes. We help residents learn about taking care of their homes, getting ready for home ownership, and offer landlord training classes.
Frogtown's Affordable Rental Opportunity. GFCDC is partnering Project for Pride in Living on a new 25 unit, scattered site rental program for families with household incomes at or below 50% of the metro median. Renovated units may be available fall of 2010.

For 15 years, GFCDC has built new or substantially renovated 107 homes that have been sold to low and moderate income families. As long as the need for quality and affordable homes remains, GFCDC will continue this important work in the community.
Torrina is a single mother, a student at Metropolitan State University, and a full time employee for a company she's been with for more than ten years.
Torrina and her daughters were in a housing crisis; the rent on their apartment increased to a level she could not afford. The family had thirty days to vacate the unit, but they had no where to go.
Torrina's mother, a Frogtown resident invited her daugher and granddaughters, to move in with her and her husband in their 2 bedroom house.
When Torrina heard about a vacant house GFCDC was renovating to sell to a low income family through a very affordable contract for deed, Torrina jumped at the opportunity.
Now, Torrina and her girls are thrilled to be in a completely renovated 3- bedroom home with all new mechanicals, windows, and roof.
